It was so good to see the first students enrolled at Beltei school this week. Sokunkim and Reaksa are two of the first children to be sponsored and this opportunity is a chance to change their lives.
Although they only live within a short walk of the school from their slum village this is really a dream come true for them as they never once believed that they would be able to attend a school that would give them so much hope for the future. This is just the beginning for them as they take one small step to move on in life and eventually out of the slum in which they live. It is hard to express how grateful they and their parents are.“You will be secure because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.” JOB 11:18
This is an example of how people can help those who cannot help themselves. Being born and brought up in a slum is something that no one chooses or is able to do anything about. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world; it is also one of the most corrupt. Opportunities are not going to change for those in the slums in the foreseeable future. They live the life they live as they have no choice……they have no hope. With the continued help and support of Helping Hand and other organisations working in the slums it IS possible to make a difference……and give them hope.
